Connected to the HIS
With Caresoft HIS, billed radiology services flow into the worklist automatically, including the visit type and IP or OPD number. Re-billing updates the study and cancelling the bill removes it from the worklist (a study already reported cannot be cancelled this way). When a report is finalized or amended, RIS notifies the HIS with links to the report and its PDF.
Other HIS systems connect through the same REST API with a per-hospital key.
Urgent and ward studies first
Studies marked urgent sit at the top of the worklist with a red marker; the rest follow in billing order. The worklist refreshes on its own so newly billed studies appear without anyone pressing a button.
Department control
Only users the administrator allows can finalize. A signed report cannot be overwritten; changing it needs a written reason and creates a new version, with the full history kept. Only one person can edit a draft at a time — anyone else who opens it sees it read-only and is told who is editing. Every finalize, amendment, print, PDF download and send is recorded.
The administrator controls users, templates, letterhead and delivery settings; reporting users only see what they need for daily work.
How a study moves through Caresoft RIS
- Billed in the HIS — the study lands in the RIS worklist with patient, bill and referring doctor filled in. Without an HIS, staff add it in RIS.
- Template opens — the format linked to that service code opens by itself.
- Typed and signed — drafts save automatically; the radiologist finalizes and the report locks with their signature, qualification and registration number.
- Delivered — the patient receives a private link and the PDF on email and WhatsApp; the HIS is told the report is ready.
Questions
Do consultants need a RIS login to see reports?
No. The HIS receives the report link, and the PDF can be opened from there. Patients receive their own private link.
What happens if the HIS sends the same order twice?
Nothing is duplicated. RIS recognises the order by its HIS order id and updates it instead.
