Radiology reports, without the Word files.
Most radiology departments still copy each patient's details into a Word template, type the findings, and save one file per patient in a folder. Caresoft RIS takes the patient details straight from your HIS bill, gives your radiologists a proper report editor, signs the report, and sends it to the patient on WhatsApp and email.

ULTRASONOGRAPHY OF ABDOMEN AND PELVIS
Liver: Normal in size (13.8 cm) with mildly raised echogenicity. No focal lesion.
Gall bladder: Well distended. A 9 mm mobile calculus is seen in the neck.
- Wall thickness normal; no pericholecystic fluid.
- CBD measures 4 mm.
Kidneys: Both normal in size and echotexture. No calculus.
Impression: Cholelithiasis without cholecystitis. Grade I fatty liver.
What the Word-file method costs you every day
Patient details typed twice. Name, age and UHID are already in the bill, yet someone retypes them into every report — and spelling mistakes reach the patient.
Files nobody can find. "Report_final_new (2).docx" on one computer. When the patient returns, the old report is a folder search away, if it was saved at all.
No record of who changed what. A Word file can be edited after it is printed. There is no signature control and no version history.
Reports wait at the counter. Patients come back to collect paper, or staff forward files from personal phones.
How a study moves through Caresoft RIS
Billed in the HIS
The radiology service is billed in Caresoft HIS. The study appears in the RIS worklist as soon as it is billed, with patient, bill and referring doctor filled in. No HIS? Add the study in RIS.
Template opens
The template linked to that service code opens by itself — or pick another from your library of X-ray, CT, MRI, USG and Doppler formats.
Typed, checked, signed
A typist or the radiologist types findings and saves drafts. The radiologist finalizes; the report locks and prints with their signature and credentials.
Delivered
The patient gets a private link on WhatsApp and email. The HIS is told the report is ready. The report joins the patient's file for every future visit.
An editor that formats like Word — inside the report
Radiologists keep the habits they have. Everything they use to make a report look professional is on the toolbar, and pasting from an old Word report keeps its formatting.
Patient fields such as name, age and referring doctor can sit anywhere in a template and fill themselves in. Drafts save automatically every minute, and Ctrl + S saves on demand.
Bring your formats with you: upload dozens of .docx files in one go and each becomes a ready template.
Connected to Caresoft HIS. Fine on its own.
With Caresoft HIS
Billed radiology services flow into the worklist automatically. Re-billing updates the study; cancelling the bill takes it off the worklist. When a report is signed, the HIS receives the report link.
With another HIS
A documented REST API with per-hospital keys: send studies as JSON, read report status, and receive a signed callback when a report is ready.
With no HIS
Register patients and studies inside RIS. Existing patients are found by name, UHID or mobile, so the patient file stays in one place.
Three levels of access
| Who | What they do |
|---|---|
| Caresoft | Onboards your hospital, sets your user limit, keeps the platform running. |
| Hospital administrator | Uploads report formats, sets the letterhead and print layout, creates radiologists and typists, connects email, WhatsApp and the HIS, and sees usage and turnaround time. |
| Radiologists and typists | Work the daily worklist: type, save drafts, finalize and sign, print, and send reports to patients. |
Reports reach the patient, not the counter
Each finalized report goes to the patient as a PDF on email and WhatsApp, with a private link that expires after the number of days you choose. Messages go through the official WhatsApp Business API and your own email domain, and every send is logged with its result.
Prints the way your hospital prints
Use your letterhead as an image, or print on pre-printed stationery with blank space set to the millimetre. Choose the paper size, font and which patient details appear in the box at the top. Long reports repeat the letterhead on every page.
Questions hospitals ask
What is Caresoft RIS?
Caresoft RIS is web-based radiology reporting software for hospitals and diagnostic centres. Radiologists open each billed study, pick a template, type in a Word-style editor, sign, and send the report to the patient by email or WhatsApp. It replaces the practice of copying patient details into Word files and saving them in folders.
Does it work with Caresoft HIS?
Yes. When a radiology service is billed in Caresoft HIS, the study appears in the RIS worklist with the patient name, age, gender, UHID, bill number and referring doctor already filled in. When the report is finalized, RIS can notify the HIS with a link to the report.
Can we use it without Caresoft HIS?
Yes. Caresoft RIS runs on its own. Your team can register patients and studies directly in RIS, and any other HIS can connect through the same documented API.
Can we keep our existing Word report formats?
Yes. Your administrator can upload many .docx files at once. Each file becomes a template that keeps its bold, underline, highlight, colours, bullets, numbering, indents and tables. Templates can be linked to HIS service codes so the right one opens automatically.
What formatting does the report editor support?
Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, superscript and subscript, highlight and text colour, fonts and sizes, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, indent and outdent, alignment, line spacing, tables, horizontal lines, special symbols, images, find, and paste from Word with formatting kept.
How do patients receive their reports?
By email with the report attached as a PDF, and on WhatsApp through the official WhatsApp Business API — as a private link, and as a PDF file if your approved template has a document header. The link expires after a period your hospital sets and opens on any phone with a Download PDF button.
Can two people edit the same report at once?
No. The first person to open a draft holds it; anyone else sees it read-only with the editor's name, and can take over if needed. The takeover is recorded and the first person is told immediately, so nobody's work is silently overwritten.
Who can sign a report?
Only users your administrator marks as able to finalize. Their name, qualification, registration number and signature image are printed on the report. Typists can prepare drafts; changing a signed report needs a written reason and creates a new version.
Will reports print on our letterhead?
Yes. Upload your letterhead header and footer as images, or choose pre-printed stationery mode, which leaves the exact blank space at the top and bottom of the page that you set in millimetres.
What user levels are there?
Three. Caresoft onboards your hospital. Your hospital administrator manages templates, letterhead, users, email, WhatsApp and the HIS connection. Reporting users — radiologists and typists — handle the daily worklist.
Where is the data hosted and is it secure?
Caresoft RIS is hosted on Caresoft servers in India. Every hospital's data is kept separate, passwords are hashed, provider credentials are encrypted at rest, and every finalize, amendment, print and send is recorded in an audit trail. Caresoft is a CMMI Level 5 and ISO 27001 certified company.
See it with your own report formats
Send us two or three of your Word templates before the demo and we will show them working in Caresoft RIS — imported, linked to your services and printed on your letterhead.
