One library of MRI formats
MRI departments typically keep dozens of formats — brain with and without contrast, epilepsy protocol, cervical, dorsal and lumbar spine, knee, shoulder, MRCP, prostate and more. In Caresoft RIS these live as named templates grouped under MRI, each linked to the HIS service codes it belongs to. The right format opens when the study is opened; any other is a search away.
Existing Word formats do not need to be retyped. The hospital administrator selects many .docx files at once and each becomes a template, keeping bold, underline, highlight, colours, bullets, numbering, indents and tables. Each template can then be linked to HIS service codes so the right one opens automatically.
Writing long reports comfortably
The editor has the formatting radiologists already use in Word: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, superscript and subscript, highlight and text colour, fonts and sizes, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, indent and outdent, alignment, line spacing, tables, symbols (° ± × µ ≥ ≤), images and find. Pasting from an existing Word report keeps its formatting, and patient fields such as {{patient_name}} or {{referring_doctor}} can sit anywhere in a template and fill themselves in.
Drafts save automatically every 45 seconds and with Ctrl + S, and the editor can switch to full screen for long reports.
Signature, safety and delivery
Only users the administrator allows can finalize. A signed report cannot be overwritten; changing it needs a written reason and creates a new version, with the full history kept. Only one person can edit a draft at a time — anyone else who opens it sees it read-only and is told who is editing. Every finalize, amendment, print, PDF download and send is recorded.
When a report is finalized, RIS creates a private link that expires after the number of days the hospital chooses. The patient receives it by email — with the report attached as a PDF — and on WhatsApp through the official WhatsApp Business API, where the PDF can also be sent as a file. Every send is logged with its result.
Questions
Can each MRI template list the sequences used?
Yes. A template is a formatted document, so it can start with a sequences line (for example T1W, T2W, FLAIR, DWI/ADC, GRE) and the technique, followed by structured findings and the impression.
Can we reuse a template for a variation of a protocol?
Yes. Duplicate a template, rename it, adjust the text and link it to its own service code.
Does the report show the radiologist's qualification?
Yes. The finalizing radiologist's name, qualification, registration number and signature image are printed at the end of the report.
