Doppler reporting software for vascular and obstetric Doppler

Doppler reporting software provides templates with tables for velocities and indices — peak systolic velocity, end-diastolic velocity, resistive and pulsatility index — for carotid, peripheral arterial, venous and obstetric Doppler studies. In Caresoft RIS these tables are part of the template, patient details come from the HIS, and the signed report goes out as a PDF.

Tables built into the template

Doppler reports are mostly numbers. A carotid template can hold a table with rows for the common, internal and external carotid and vertebral arteries on each side, and columns for PSV, EDV and plaque; a venous template can list segments with compressibility and flow. The sonologist fills the cells; the layout stays the same for every patient.

The editor has the formatting radiologists already use in Word: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, superscript and subscript, highlight and text colour, fonts and sizes, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, indent and outdent, alignment, line spacing, tables, symbols (° ± × µ ≥ ≤), images and find. Pasting from an existing Word report keeps its formatting, and patient fields such as {{patient_name}} or {{referring_doctor}} can sit anywhere in a template and fill themselves in.

Templates and service codes

Existing Word formats do not need to be retyped. The hospital administrator selects many .docx files at once and each becomes a template, keeping bold, underline, highlight, colours, bullets, numbering, indents and tables. Each template can then be linked to HIS service codes so the right one opens automatically.

How a study moves through Caresoft RIS

  1. Billed in the HIS — the study lands in the RIS worklist with patient, bill and referring doctor filled in. Without an HIS, staff add it in RIS.
  2. Template opens — the format linked to that service code opens by itself.
  3. Typed and signed — drafts save automatically; the radiologist finalizes and the report locks with their signature, qualification and registration number.
  4. Delivered — the patient receives a private link and the PDF on email and WhatsApp; the HIS is told the report is ready.

Questions

Can Doppler templates have merged table cells?

Yes. Tables with merged cells are supported in the editor and preserved when Word files are imported.

Can we keep separate templates for left and right limb Doppler?

Yes — keep as many templates as you need and link each to its own HIS service code.
