CT scan reporting software with structured templates

CT reporting software gives radiologists structured templates for each CT protocol — plain and contrast brain, chest, abdomen and pelvis, CT angiography, HRCT — with space for technique, phases, measurements and impression. Caresoft RIS adds patient details from the HIS, digital signature, version history for amendments, and PDF delivery to the patient and the referring doctor's team.

Structure for longer reports

CT reports carry more parts than plain films: technique and contrast phases, organ-by-organ findings, measurements, incidental findings and a ranked impression. Templates in Caresoft RIS hold that structure with headings, numbered impressions and tables for lesion size or Hounsfield values, so every radiologist in the department reports in the same order.

The editor has the formatting radiologists already use in Word: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, superscript and subscript, highlight and text colour, fonts and sizes, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, indent and outdent, alignment, line spacing, tables, symbols (° ± × µ ≥ ≤), images and find. Pasting from an existing Word report keeps its formatting, and patient fields such as {{patient_name}} or {{referring_doctor}} can sit anywhere in a template and fill themselves in.

Amendments without losing history

CT reports are sometimes revised after a clinical discussion or a comparison with an outside study. In Caresoft RIS a finalized report is locked; amending it needs a reason, creates a new version and prints an "Amended report" note. Earlier versions stay in the history, and the HIS is told that the report changed.

Comparing with previous studies

While reporting, the side panel lists the patient's earlier finalized reports from RIS — any modality — so a previous CT or ultrasound is one click away. The full patient file can be printed or downloaded as one PDF.

How a study moves through Caresoft RIS

  1. Billed in the HIS — the study lands in the RIS worklist with patient, bill and referring doctor filled in. Without an HIS, staff add it in RIS.
  2. Template opens — the format linked to that service code opens by itself.
  3. Typed and signed — drafts save automatically; the radiologist finalizes and the report locks with their signature, qualification and registration number.
  4. Delivered — the patient receives a private link and the PDF on email and WhatsApp; the HIS is told the report is ready.

Questions

Can CT templates include tables?

Yes. The editor supports tables with merged cells, which suits lesion measurements, density values and staging summaries. Tables are kept when Word templates are imported.

Can two radiologists work on the same CT report?

One at a time. The first person to open a draft holds it; anyone else sees it read-only with the editor's name, and can take over if needed — the takeover is recorded and the first person is told.

Can we send CT reports to the patient as PDF?

Yes. Email includes the PDF as an attachment, and WhatsApp can carry the PDF as a document if your approved template has a document header.
